JEFFERSON CITY, MO., January 18, 2024

Missouri State Representative Sarah Unsicker (D-Shrewsbury), candidate for Governor of Missouri, praised the high school students of the Francis Howell School District in St. Charles County today for their impassioned defense of democracy and their demand that United States history be taught with equity and justice for all Americans.

“While some cynical adults would divide Missourians along racial and political lines, the thoughtful and mature students of the Francis Howell High Schools are bringing us together,” Unsicker said of today’s student action in St. Charles, Missouri. “They have collected thousands of signatures on petitions, organized a public protest, and, aware of the consequences they might face, are committed to making sure the history of all Missourians and all Americans are well represented in their education. Thanks to these students, Missouri’s democracy is alive and well.”
