Sarah Unsicker On the Issues

  • As Governor, I will protect Missourians’ rights by advocating for policies that make healthcare more affordable, enhance the quality of education, and protect the rights of workers.

These elements are integral to creating a prosperous and fair society. My dedication to Missouri families motivates me to address disparities and promote an environment that embraces all people. My goal is to contribute to the revitalization of Missouri, ensuring that every individual can fully exercise their rights and access opportunities.

  • Every community deserves clean air, water, and a safe environment. By advocating for environmental protections in both rural and urban areas, we can promote equity and ensure that no community is left behind.

Our state's natural resources are invaluable assets. Whether its safeguarding forests, lakes, or farmland, I will work to enforce environmental laws that protect these resources and ensure sustainable land use practices for current and future generations.

  • Public corruption undermines the foundation of our democracy, eroding trust in government and impeding progress. As an Attorney General candidate, I am dedicated to rooting out corruption and implementing crucial reforms to restore faith in our public institutions. No one, regardless of their position, is above the law.

Corruption investigations often span multiple agencies and levels of government. I will encourage collaboration between law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and other relevant authorities to tackle corruption comprehensively. As the Governor, I will collaborate with federal investigations as well as advocating for departmental investigations to protect the integrity of public offices and public officials.

No one should be above the law, especially those in public office. I will ensure that corruption investigations are conducted impartially and without bias, holding all individuals accountable for their actions.

I will lead by example, adhering to the highest ethical standards in my role as Governor. Ethical leadership starts at the top and sets the tone for government at all levels.

  • Workers are the backbone of our economy and deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. As a candidate for Governor, I am deeply committed to advocating for workers' rights, ensuring safe working conditions, and fighting for fair wages.

Safety on the job is non-negotiable. I will prioritize the enforcement of workplace safety regulations to protect workers from hazards, accidents, and unsafe conditions. Employers must be held accountable for maintaining safe workplaces.

Wage theft is an all-too-common problem. I will aggressively pursue cases against employers who steal wages from their workers, ensuring that hard-earned money goes where it belongs: into the pockets of workers and their families.

  • Our children and our families are the heart of our communities, and it's our duty to ensure they thrive in a nurturing and stable environment. As a candidate for Governor, I am deeply committed to making Missouri a better place for children and families. Many families in Missouri face significant challenges, from economic hardships to issues like substance abuse and mental health. I will prioritize initiatives that provide support and resources to help these families stay together and overcome obstacles.

Child abuse is a major problem in Missouri, as can be evidenced with our foster care system. I will work with Missouri Children’s Division to ensure high-quality care for all children in Missouri and reduce the levels of child abuse.

  • Human trafficking preys on the most vulnerable among us, including children and marginalized populations. I am dedicated to providing protection and support for these victims.

To truly eradicate trafficking, there must be a multi-pronged approach working in conjunction with local, state, and federal law enforcement; educating teachers and other professionals who work with children; and providing resources for victims to build a new life.

  • Reproductive rights are a deeply personal matter, and I am committed to upholding the principle that decisions about healthcare should be made by families and their trusted medical providers, not by politicians seeking the support of special interest groups.

Decisions about reproductive health should be based on medical advice and the judgment of trusted healthcare providers. It is not the role of the government to interfere in these private and sensitive matters.

I will protect patient-doctor confidentiality, ensuring that individuals can have open and honest discussions with their healthcare providers without fear of legal repercussions.

Reproductive justice is about more than just access to abortion; it's about the right to have children, raise them in safe environments, and make choices that are best for one's family. I will advocate for policies that address the full spectrum of reproductive justice issues.
